Mallorca is one of our favorite destinations in Europe. Located in the western Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Spain, it is a bio-diverse island with gorgeous tree-lined hillsides, beautiful Mediterranean seascapes, sprawling olive plantations, and quaint hillside villages. We know it well enough to have our favorite hikes and hideaways.

Additionally- this trip is a culinary DELIGHT. The food is one of the highlights of the trip, as we have private chefs create delicious meals of paella and more tapas than you can eat! Food, wine, scenery- Take a hiking holiday and see (and taste) it all!

FLIGHTS

You are responsible for booking your own flight into Palma Mallorca International (PMI). We HIGHLY recommend arriving a day or two early, as this will give you time to adjust to the time change, explore the beautiful city of Palma and allow for any delays/luggage issues during your trans-Atlantic journey. We will make airport pick-ups and set a city rendezvous point for 2:30p on October 18- please plan accordingly.

Please plan your departures on October 24th for mid-morning (10am) or later. We will provide airport transfers to PMI.

DAILY ITINERARY

Mallorca is a Spanish island in the Mediterranean - a warm and welcoming paradise with abundant sunshine, diverse scenery, and an endless list of things to see and do. Most visitors to Mallorca are here to stroll the beach, sunbathe, eat great food and drink refreshing cocktails. Of course, we do all that – but we do so much more. Come along for incredible hiking across ancient routes in the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, coastal cruising, tasting tours, market foraging and more! All that, with plenty of time to relax and enjoy... It's a Hiking HOLIDAY- que bueno!

Day 1- Arrival Day

Plan to arrive in Palma de Mallorca (PMI) by early afternoon (2p-ish). We’ll meet you at the airport, then take you to our private villa at the impressive estate of Finca Biniforani Nou for our Welcome Dinner- piles of paella prepared by a private chef!

NOTE: We HIGHLY recommend arriving in Palma a day or two early- it is definitely worth spending some time in this beautiful city. Wrapped around an expansive harbor, this ancient and enduring city is a charmer, dating back to the 13th-century Christian Conquest of the island. Start your wandering at the impressive Cathedral de Santa Maria. From there you will be drawn into medieval streets lined with galleries, restaurants, artisan studios and aristocratic townhouses. On Arrival Day, you can enjoy a leisurely lunch on a vibrant public square while waiting for your F4A guides to pick you up at a central spot in the afternoon.

Day 2

Today’s Hike:  One-Way Coastal Hike with Boat Return

Route:  Mirador de ses Barques to Cala Tuent

Distance:  6.5 miles / 1,210’ Elevation Gain

Difficulty:  Moderately Strenuous

We don’t want to call favorites - but it is hard to beat a dramatic coastal hike to a unspoiled beach… with a boat ride back! Starting from a viewpoint high above Port de Sóller, we follow an enchanting route through farms and forests with a stop for lunch (and perhaps sangria) at Es Vergeret restaurant (lunch is on F4A!). We’ll have just a few more minutes of walking after lunch before reaching the beach at Cala Tuent and boarding an hour-long coastal boat tour bound for Port de Sóller- where we can stroll beachfront shops, restaurants and bars.

Upon our return to the villa, we’ll have an easy dinner of tapas and pinchos.

Day 3

Today's Hike: Mountain views in Esporles

Distance:  4-6 miles

Difficulty: Moderate

Today, your guides will select another gorgeous hike in the hills of Mallorca based on weather and trail conditions. Expect more of the same- stunning views. beautiful vistas and great hiking. If time allows, we may make a stop in the pretty town of Esporles.

After the hike, we'll head towards a place that is always a favorite... the Bodega Son Puig. It is a rare privilege to visit this family-owned winery, operating out of a stately centuries-old manor house set among acres of vineyards and gardens. We’ll meet Isabel, our hostess and member of the wine-making family. She will proudly lead us on a private tour, telling us of the interesting history and workings of the estate, followed by generous tasting of their wines accompanied by plentiful tapas.

(You may purchase wine here if you like- it is a perfect place to box a few bottles up for home!)

Completing our tour and tasting, we’ll return to the villa for a relaxing evening. After the heavy tapas at Bodega Son Puig, light snacks will be available for anyone who might get hungry back at the villa.

Day 4

Today’s Hike:  Flora, Fauna & History

Route:  Cumbre de Dragonera Island

Distance:  5.3 miles / 1,187’ Elevation Gain

Difficulty:  Moderate

This morning, we'll meet up with a local naturalist who will guide us on a private and personalized trip through a remote Natural Park. By remote, we mean it's an island accessible only by boat. Once on the Island, we'll hike our way to the highest point where stands the ruins of an old watch tower and lighthouse. Along the way, our guide will share the history of the site, and highlight the unique flora and fauna of this unspoiled area.

Dinner tonight will be prepared by our chef- another delicious meal on the terrace at the villa!

Day 5

After breakfast at the villa, we’ll drive north to Old Pollença- a historic town with incredible Old World charm. Accompanied by our local guide (who grew up in the town), we'll explore its narrow alleys, eclectic shops, chic galleries and quaint cafés tucked away on cobblestone streets and squares. After the tour, we'll enjoy a traditional Mallorcan lunch at our guide's favorite local restaurant- lunch is on F4A!

After lunch, we’re off to the spiritual heart of the island- the beautiful Lluc Monastery. Dating to the 13th Century, Lluc is a profoundly meaningful place to Mallorquins. It is surrounded by stunning mountain scenery and an extensive network of pilgrimage pathways that for centuries have drawn followers and the faithful to the site. Today, there are beautiful gardens, ancient forests and fantastical rock formations for us to explore along these routes.

This evening, we’ll make a fresh and light dinner at the villa.

Day 6

Today’s Hike:  The Archduke’s Estate

Route:  Port de Valldemossa to Caló de S’Estaca

Distance:  5.9 miles / 1,266’ Elevation Gain

Difficulty:  Moderate

The drive alone is a thrill. A steep narrow road with switchbacks leads us to the Port de Valldemossa where this hike begins. From there we follow a moderate footpath along the coast towards a tiny fishing village turned summer hideaway, and through the former estate of Austrian Archduke Ludwig Salvator who, at the end of the 19th Century had a grand country house built with sweeping seaside views. Today, this estate belongs to American film stars Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones.  We’ll rest our feet- and maybe take a dip in the crystal clear and blue bay of Caló de s’Estaca- before returning to Port de Valldemossa for lunch on the waterfront. On the drive back, we can stop and explore the village of Valldemossa, or head back to the villa for a relaxing afternoon by the pool. A chef-catered celebratory Finale Dinner awaits us this evening.

Day 7- Departure Day

After an incredible week exploring this breath-taking island, it is time to say adios... We’ll head back to the PMI airport this morning while treasuring the memories we've made during the week. This trip was incredible. The hikes were challenging because of the rocky trails and steep inclines. The spectacular views made it worth the effort. The Villa was a beautiful home base and our guides, Diane and Nick, did a great job of keeping us well fed and comfortable. We traveled in vans to the trail heads each day. The roads are winding and narrow but they handled it beautifully. Their knowledge of the area served us well. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who has an interest in hiking Mallorca! Consider tagging on a side trip before or after to maximize time in the area.

Francie - Mallorca Hiking

I wanted to explore more of Mallorca so I chose this trip. It was really good. I saw part of the island that many don't see if they are driving. The hike leaders were attune to the capabilities of the group and did not push any one beyond what they could handle. The food was great and a lot of it. Great trip!

Tammy - Mallorca Hiking

What a wonderful trip Mallorca was; one for the books, couldn't have been any better. Friends and family ask about the trip and I tell them just that; unforgettable and indescribable. Especially for my first trip to Europe. I have totally kept replaying the entire experience in my mind since returning. You, Marie and our entire group made the trip a wonderful success and experience. The hikes, the gorgeous winery, the breathtaking monastery, the additional island hike, visiting the small towns, our house and its surrounding, our ten traveling cohorts, the wonderful meals and dining experiences, and our beautiful F4A guides ;), I would do it again the exact same way. THANK YOU!

Monty U. - Mallorca Hiking

My husband I had a terrific time!!! Everything in the description of this hiking trip was true to form--accommodations (the Biniforani Nou Villa is gorgeous), hiking, shopping, and touring. Hiking along the sea was a main attraction and we were not disappointed to say the least. The views were breathtaking! The Fit4Adventure team is accommodating with things that are possible in a group situation. We had time together on the trail as a group and time apart in the little villages to shop and eat or to join and eat together. It is a safe way to travel as a group, or with a few friends, or alone. You can go alone knowing you are safe with this professional team of experienced hikers and travelers. We were a small group of 15, and it was nice to meet adults of all ages from other states.

Janet C. - Mallorca Hiking
Dallas, TX

This was a wonderful trip! Diane and Nick took care of every detail from the food to the hikes to the accommodations, everything was top notch.

Cheryl S. - Mallorca Hike

What a great trip! Mallorca offers stunning hiking, great food and wine, and our weather was perfect. Our guides were friendly and warm, and ensured that everyone in the group was comfortable during the trip. Our finca was the perfect place to relax at the end of the day. The hike with the local naturalist was a real treat as was the visit to the winery.
