LEAPING DEER RANCH ... home base for the trip!
We will relax and play at this amazing ranch retreat that sits on 186 gorgeous acres in northern New Mexico. This spacious villa sits on a mountain ridge, surrounded by pine and juniper forest, that overlooks a valley of pastures and a natural lake. You'll be awed and inspired by the spectacular sunrises on the huge wrap around porch as we get our days started with a warm cup of coffee or tea while watching the horses graze.
The price for this trip assumes double occupancy. Four of the bedrooms have a queen bed plus a comfy sofa bed. There is also a king master suite with a king bed and two sofa beds. To save money, 3 women can share that room. You can see photos of the rooms by clicking the Gallery tab above.
The front garden has a magnificent iron horse statue, Paco by Siri Hollander. Paco stands watch over the valley amidst an aspen grove, wild rose bushes, stalks of Mullen, and the new orchard of fruit trees. Also in the garden, is a bonfire pit area that is surrounded by stone benches. When weather conditions are favorable the staff can be available to assist in preparation and starting of a bonfire. There are very low levels of light pollution at Leaping Deer Ranch, so we'll definitely plan to do some star gazing. The night skies at the ranch are one of its best features!
Retreat - Yoga & Meditation Descriptions
(all yoga and meditation classes are for all levels)
What is a mindful movement yoga class?
This signature slow flow will help you drop your need to "do" and allow yourself to just "be." We will drown out the busyness of the outside world while nourishing the mind, body & spirit. You will be guided through slower, gentler movements, intentional breathing exercises & empowering meditations. We’ll spend time exploring the sensations of functional movement through the hips and shoulders to ease inflammation and promote proper alignment on and off of the mat.
What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga nidra, also known as yogic sleep is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, like the"going-to-sleep" stage, typically induced by a guided meditation. Scientific evidence shows that yoga nidra helps to relieve stress, relaxes the mind and body to prep for a deep intentional sleep. The preparation for this meditation style is to lay down in a comfortable position, close your eyes, and soft guided with the nidra meditation.
What is Savasana?
A yoga pose is an asana in hatha yoga and modern yoga as exercise, often used for relaxation at the end of a session. It is the usual pose for the practice of yoga nidra meditation
What is Vinyasa Flow?
Vinyasa is a style of yoga characterized by stringing postures together so that you move from one to another, seamlessly, using breath. Commonly referred to as “flow” yoga,it is sometimes confused with “power yoga“. The variable nature of Vinyasa Yoga helps to develop a more balanced body as well as prevent repetitive motion injuries that can happen if you are always doing the same thing every day.

After your dinner, explore New Mexico’s largest labyrinth under the stars for a special and unique meditation experience.
A labyrinth can be used as a tool to “unwind the mind,” and to let go stress or worries and concerns.
Walking the labyrinth can release patterned behavior, thoughts, and feelings of various sorts. It can "un-torque” or unwind you. As you release old patterned energy, the alignment of your body may shift or straighten into a greater spiritual alignment.
Some walk a labyrinth as a kind of moving meditation.
The labyrinth can be used as a metaphor for how you live your life. What can you learn about yourself as you walk it?
