Explore the journey within on this spiritual wellness retreat.  We will learn about and explore the 7 chakras through yoga, meditation and soulful excursions.  Get cozy with us in the sleepy surfer town of Puerto Viejo, located on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica an eco-lodge located between the jungle and the ocean.

In this retreat, we will cover the basics of meditation and yoga, while exploring a range of its styles that apply to each chakra. We will also have educational and insightful interactive sessions to better understand how each chakra can guide us intuitively and how we can better understand and listen to our mind, body, and soul.

Chakras are spiritual energy hubs all along the spine. There are 7 total chakras each related to organs, age development, emotions, phases of life, and more.

About Our Lodge Resort

OM is just three blocks away from the center of town. You’ll have the convenience of town amenities paired with the tranquil seclusion of the jungle!  Enjoy a refreshing waterfall pool plunge,explore the gardens where your food grows, spot and hear wildlife all around you.

This is a hidden gem of the South Caribbean community! The cottages have UV filtered water, wi-fi, housekeeping, and laundry service available for purchase.

 

Yoga Shala

Start each morning in our private yoga Shala for meditation, yoga, and discovery each of the 7 chakras and its meaning led by Fit 4 Adventure guide, Kristin Goss.  The Shala is an open-air style overlooking the Caribbean ocean and jungle. And no need to bring your yoga mat, we will provide all props – mat, straps, bolsters, and blocks. We have you covered!

 

Enjoy Mouthwatering Meals Fresh from the Farm

Two of your meals each day will be prepared and eaten at the resort.  We will always have breakfast on-site, then depending on the day’s schedule, we’ll do either lunch or dinner there.

The retreat center kitchen is completely meat free and uses local ingredients to create mouth-watering and balanced meals. The meals are served buffet style, seasoned with fresh-from-the-garden organic herbs and utilizing local fruits and vegetables that are available seasonally.  They can accommodate vegan or gluten free diets and harvest from their organic garden for daily fresh salads, smoothies, teas and entrees.  

 

About your Guide

A lifelong lover of athletics and wellness, Kristin is aware of the benefits of yoga and meditation for the mind, body and spirit. Kristin is a certified 500 RYT Yoga Alliance instructor, and has completed advanced studies in Rishikesh, India and Thailand, spending over 400 hours of continued education in both yoga and meditation styles. As part of her deep understanding and love of wellness,Kristin is also a certified Thai Masseuse and Reiki practitioner studying at the Wat Po Temple in Bangkok, Thailand, where the tradition of Thai Massage originated.

Through the mindset of understanding one’s body and mind through compassion,acceptance, and mindfulness, she aims to restore through alignment, breath,meditation and mindful movement.

In the field, Kristin teaches yoga and meditation classes, leads a 200-hour teacher training program, leads yoga retreats, teaches group yoga classes,corporate yoga classes, and private sessions.

TRIP PRICE:  $1,889 per person (This is for double or triple occupancy. Single occupancy not available for this trip)

FLIGHTS: Plan to arrive on the earliest flight to the San Jose airport (SJO). Then hop a short flight from San Jose to the Limon Airport (LIO), where we pick you up.   Note: We'll give more specific flight recommendations once people are signed up and we see where they are coming from.

PAYMENTS:  A $250 (per person) deposit is due when you submit the reservation form.  Your 2nd payment (50% of remaining balance) will be due December 15, 2021 .  The remaining balance will be due no later than January 30, 2022. You’ll receive a reminder email when these are due.   

CANCELLATIONS:  If you cancel your trip before December 15th, your deposit is refundable, less a $100 cancellation fee. All other payments are non-refundable.  

TRAVEL INSURANCE:  The cancellation policy above will be strictly adhered to. To avoid the loss of payments due to unforeseen circumstances, travel insurance is highly recommended. The easiest way is to purchase it at the same time you purchase your flight. Day 1:  Arrival Day

 

Plan to arrive on the earliest flight to the San Jose airport. Then hop a short flight from San Jose to the Limon Airport (LIO), where we pick you up.   

From Limon, we have a 1-hour drive to our remote eco-lodge in Puerto Viejo. We’ll take a break to stop for lunch at Los Primos. This is a local spot where you can see lots of local fruits and vegetables and grab a cup of “agua dulce,” a local coffee cooked over a wood stove. During our drive, we will be cruising through Barrio Caurillo National Park, which has a beautiful view.

After arrival and check in at our lodge, we’ll take a little tour to become familiar with our surroundings.  Then you’ll have some free time to schedule your Thai Massage, settle in and rest before a special welcoming dinner.

  

Day 2:  Root Chakra

The root chakra is comprised of whatever grounds you to stability in your life. This includes your basic needs such as food, water, shelter, safety,as well as your emotional needs of interconnection, and being fearless.

 

Each day of your retreat will have a similar format: 

·        Morning meditation and yoga in your private Shala

·        Tropical breakfast

·        2-hour chakra session through movement, breathwork, journaling exercises.

·        Step out for lunch on your own

·        Free time

·        Afternoon excursion

·        Dinner with evening meditation to follow

 

After your morning practice, breakfast and root chakra experiences, we will take a break for lunch before a walking meditation, followed by a tour of the on-site organic garden. You will have the rest of the afternoon to yourself to enjoy the grounds, the town, the beach, or just relax in a hammock with a book.

Late in the afternoon we’ll enjoy a Hatha yoga class before we head to town for dinner.

 We will end the evening with a Yoga Nidra meditation (a form of guided meditation also known as “yogic sleep” or “effortless relaxation”).

  

Day 3:  Sacral Chakra

The sacral chakra is associated with the emotional body, sensuality, pleasure and creativity. Its element is water and as such, its energy is characterized by flow and flexibility.

After your morning of yoga, meditation and understanding the chakra, grab your swimsuit and shoes for an afternoon waterfall hike in Cahuita National Park.

 

A local guide will pick the group up from the lodge and lead us on the trail. It’s about an 8.3 km trek (beginner level friendly) along the beach until the last kilometer when it dives into the jungle. If you are lucky, you will spot sloths, pacas, monkeys, lizards, butterflies and more!

After the hike, enjoy free time and dinner at the lodge.

 

Day 4: Solar Plexis Chakra

The solar plexus chakra is the seat of your personal power. It means self-mastery – the ability to master your thoughts and emotions, overcome any fear and take appropriate action in any situation.

After your morning ritual, grab your swimsuit and head to the beach for surfing or SUP. This might a good time for your free Thai massage, as well.

 

We’ll re-group later this afternoon for a restorative yoga session and some free time on your own before we head to town for dinner.

 

Day 5: Heart Chakra

The heart chakra is associated with love and our connection to and compassion for all living things; understanding we are all one.  We can always learn about ourselves through nature! There’s a deep beauty and love with nature.

Today’s morning is a little different than the other mornings. After breakfast, you are in for a real treat as we head to The Jaguar & Sloth Rescue Center.

 The JRC is temporary or permanent home for ill, injured and orphaned animals with a focus on monkeys, sloths, other mammals, birds & reptiles.  Their daily tour is unlike any animal experience you’ve had before. It allows you to be in close proximity with monkeys, wild cats, sloths, anteaters and more. You’ll see monkeys in the trees, birds flying free, and the most venomous snakes in Costa Rica, housed in terrariums imitating their natural habitat. Guided by professionals who have extensive training with the animals, you will see things you wouldn’t even have known to look for and learn things you could never imagine.

After touring the rescue center,we’ll stop at a local café for lunch.

Once back at the resort you’ll get to experience a Cacao ceremony followed by session where we explore the heart chakra.  This will be a very empowering and nurturing session.  

A Cacao ceremony has become a centerpiece of our routine ritual for self-renewal that keeps us centered, connected to our hearts, and living in a good way. We drink cacao together creating healing, connection and inspiration through its ability to open the body’s energetic and blood flow systems. Engaging with chocolate as a ritual, rather than consuming it as candy, has direct positive impact on our individual well-being as well as our global ecosystem.  

Enjoy a bit free time before dinner at the lodge.

 

Day 6: Throat Chakra

Learn to listen and express yourself from a higher form of communication through the throat chakra. When it's open, it's easier to be truthful to both yourself and others.

 

A day for understanding how to speak your inner truth.

After your morning routine, breakfast and your 2-hour chakra session enjoy free time for the rest of the afternoon – lunch, personal time to relax or enjoy a local excursion on your own.

We will meet up for dinner at the lodge before a special evening Kirtan experience back at our private Shala.

Kirtan is a style of song or chant set to music, wherein multiple singers recite or describe a legend, express loving devotion to a deity, or discuss spiritual ideas.

  

Day 7: Third Eye Chakra

The third eye chakra is associated with heightened spiritual growth, positive attitudes and a more generous and humanitarian attitude towards life.

 Following the morning yoga, meditation and tropical breakfast, meet back at the Shala for a deep dive into the 3rd eye. This chakra is all about intuition, understanding and self-knowledge. This session will also include any closing thoughts, how all chakras integrate together and how to leverage your knowledge in your daily lives.

 Grab lunch at the property before a local guide takes for an exciting afternoon of zip lining.  If we are lucky, we’ll hear howler monkeys as we soar over the jungle.

As it is the last day, spend any extra free time in the town to shop,eat, roam, and pack up. We will end the evening with a restorative yoga session and time to freshen up before at a special dinner and celebration at theproperty.

   

Day 8: Departure Day

One last morning of meditation and tropical breakfast before your Fit 4 Adventure guide accompanies you back to the airport.

We recommend taking the last flight of the day to allow for enough travel time to the airport.

Walking Meditation

What is a mindful movement yoga class?

This signature slow flow will help you drop your need to "do" and allow yourself to just "be." We will drown out the busyness of the outside world while nourishing the mind, body & spirit. You will be guided through slower, gentler movements, intentional breathing exercises & empowering meditations. We’ll spend time exploring the sensations of functional movement through the hips and shoulders to ease inflammation and promote proper alignment on and off of the mat. 

What is Yoga Nidra?

Yoga Nidra, also known as yogic sleep, is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, like the "going-to-sleep" stage, typically induced by a guided meditation. Scientific evidence shows that Yoga Nidra helps to relieve stress, relaxes the mind and body to prep for a deep intentional sleep. The preparation for this meditation style is to lay down in a comfortable position, close your eyes, and soft guided with the Nidra meditation. 

What is Hatha Yoga?

A popular tradition of a yoga style with a system alluding to slower movements with more focus on posture, alignment, longer holds, and force to bring about better yoga performance. It’s a slower flow with longer posture holds. 

What is nourishing yoga flow and stretch?

A slow flow with breath centered movement and mindfulness focusing on relaxing the entire body to aid with mental and emotional well being, leaving one feeling at peace and calm after the practice. 

What is Thai Massage?

A deep and fully clothed floor massage incorporating passive stretches,compression and work on the Thai energy lines (Sen). The slow movements allow your mind and spirit to slowdown and realize a true form of relaxation.
